  I haven't visited up to 50% of the small town I live in, neither have I seen much of Toronto, but the little I have seen tells me how much of a beauty this country is. We all cannot wait for summer. I would love to explore a bit of Ontario in the meantime, Toronto to be precise. I and my girlfriends are making plans. We'll see how that goes. It's a 14-hour drive from Thunder Bay to Toronto and two hours flight. Since we want to experience nature as well as the bigger city, we plan to drive. Isn't it surprising that I dislike road trips yet I'm excited about this one? You guess right 😃. I mean, who would fall motion sick while driving on beautiful highways with breathtaking views, scenery, mountains, music, jokes and laughter, quirky restaurants, talking about boys and eating healthy food?

 BRRRRRRRRRH It's COLD!!!!!! When you are from the warmer climates and have lived there all your life, the highest level of cold you would have experienced would be 18 degrees centigrade. You would never be able to imagine the gravity of cold abroad from word of mouth.  The freezer is set at -18 degrees centigrade at the top and you cannot have your hands in it for more than five minutes, then you travel to a region whose temperature is between -15 to -35. Can you imagine that? And you are supposed to go out to do your daily demands.  Omo, them no explain am very well for me o. (I wasn't well informed). I arrived at Thunder Bay airport some minutes before 12 midnight. It was January, the middle of winter. The shock I had when the airport door opened for me to step out and get my taxi. WHAT?!!!! I wanted to run back inside. I was smacked. It wasn't normal. It was terrifying. I was scared. My skin was bitten. I was confused. It was midnight. What if there are no more taxis?...

 Na here we de go the real school o (This is an actual school setting). Omo, school here no easy o. (It's not exactly easy to school here) This is mainly because the concept is different. Learning is very independent and practical. One good thing is that the instructors are very helpful. They respond to email enquiries swiftly and render help to students tirelessly.  You will count yourself lucky to be a student here because of the unlimited resources available to help you with your studies.  The aim is to prepare you to meet the standard and expectations of real work life - gaining "The Canadian Experience." There are lots of presentations both in groups and individually. You will learn new skills, build study teams, make connections, and practically discover yourself. RESEARCH IS A BIG DEAL! Hi SeeThru-ers, In Canada, What Next? Food Problems Moving to a new country is overwhelmingly exciting because we tend to expect everything to work like magic or like it does in storybooks, but reality always hits differently. No one told me I would starve in my first few days, and eat snacks as food (the idea of food where I come from is heavy carbs; an actually cooked food). Eating pizza, burgers, doughnuts etc., and drinking coffee, juices etc are more of snacking foods, not full-course meals.  For a starving person like I was to make do with these for food was really difficult. I starved. 😕😔 I bought this at the airport after starving for 7 hours. I got it from the show counters. Unknown to me, it was cold. The disappointment I had when I realise I was supposed to request a hot one instead. This one was a take-home plate. I ate it cold anyway. Toronto Pearson Airport '' Email notification - DonotrepyIRCC- you have a message on your portal about your application.'' If you have ever applied for a visa, you will understand what it means to receive these emails. I got three of them and I wasn't sure what they were. But as a Christian girl like me, I was positive it was goodness. Jesus had done it. I had no nerves to open the email. I left it until I got to work with the plans to get my trusted colleague to help me open it. Thanks to a good friend of mine whose name I have to withhold. He encouraged me to open the email. He stayed on the phone with me until I opened each of them. I was way too scared but he was not going to let me be until I read my messages.  He stayed with me until I logged in to my IRCC portal and read my message. It said, ''Your application for a study permit has been APPROVED!''  I YELLED. It was in the school's washroom. This same washroom I had prayed numerous times ...

  What is life without family? The news of moving to Canada was the most exciting for my family. They all came to spend time with me before I left. My younger brother, the darker guy lives in Abuja, but my mom and elder brother came in from Akwa Ibom. It was one of the best two weeks of our lives. The bond, fun, prayers and family times we shared. It was a GOOOOOOFY time!

Afang soup  I do not actually think I'm much of a foodie being that my eating routine is just messed up. I can go the whole day with just snacks. Like I tell my friends, I like the idea of food more than I like eating it.  Okra soup One thing my friends and family love about me is my delicious sumptuous food and as an Akwa Ibom lady, we are known for making the most delicious meals in Nigeria. Celebrating oye wins, year 4 classof 2021 Representing the Funlanis of Nigeria  Being a teacher is fun, exciting, tiring, exhilarating, demanding and very challenging. I feel very proud of myself for doing it for ten years. To be honest, the job is really tough. Some people think a teacher's job is easy because they get to go home by 3 or 4pm and enjoy school breaks. Little do people know about the work that happens when students leave. Teachers practically work round the clock. They have to deal with the students, parents and the school management.  I haven't seen any teacher who likes making lesson planning. They are written for every lesson. Imagine writing lesson plans for 4 lessons each week and meeting the deadline.
